On 23 November 2021, political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and the State of Qatar were held in Doha.
The Georgian delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Khvtisiashvili with the participation of Ambassador of Georgia to the State of Qatar Nikoloz Revazishvili and Director of the Middle East and Africa Department Zurab Aleksidze. The Qatari side was chaired by Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ahmad Hassan Al-Hamadi.
In the framework of the consultations, the parties reviewed the bilateral and multilateral cooperation agenda. Meeting focused on the areas of mutual interest as well as the exchange of high-level visits between the two countries. Particular attention was paid to the need to undertake the necessary steps to deepen trade and economic relations and improve the bilateral legal and contractual framework. The Deputy Foreign Minister briefed the Qatari side on the situation in the occupied territories. The parties also exchanged information on important issues of regional cooperation, discussed the current developments in Afghanistan and shared experiences on the evacuation efforts.
The heads of delegations reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen trade, economic and political cooperation.
