The Executive Council of the World Tourism Organisation has presented the Georgian candidate Zurab Pololikashvili to the UN General Assembly for re-election to the position of its Secretary General (2022-2025).
The 113th session of the Executive Council, where the aforementioned candidate was chosen for the position of Secretary General, took place on the 19th of January of 2021 in Madrid. The confirmation of the candidate to the position of Secretary General will take place in late 2021 during the US General Assembly.
The session of the executive council held in Madrid was attended by the Georgian Foreign Minister, David Zalkaliani, Chair of the Sector Economy and Economic Policy Committee of the Georgian Parliament, Davit Songhulashvili and other members of the Georgian delegation.
The attendees were addressed by the Spanish PM, Pedro Sanchez, along with the candidate for the position of Secretary General of the World Tourism Organisation, Zurab Pololikashvili.
